Pasungko Festival

The Municipality of Piñan celebrates its annual thanksgiving in honor of its patron saint–the Immaculate Heart of Mary–every month of August. One of the highlights of the celebration is the Pasungko Festival.

The word Pasungko comes from the subanen term “sungko” which means “harvest” or “abot” in Bisayan language.

Since Piñan has been identified as an agricultural area; that is appropriate for growing fruit trees, corn and vegetables, people from all walks of life coming from different barangays in Piñan would hold its Pasungko Festival to give thanks to the Almighty by way of dancing with hopes for more blessings and abundant harvest in the coming years.
