Water System

Water is one of the basic needs of man for his daily undertakings. Good thing Piñan has a good source of potable water.

The municipality of Piñan had established a water system through the CDF funds of the First Congresional Representative, KR2 and SRA-WATSAN funds. The reservoir was located at Barangay Poblacion South and North. It caters the residents of the two barangays including San Nicolas of Dapitan City.

Other existing water facilities in the municipality are the deep/shallow wells, open dug wells and piped water system that come from springs. Most of the wells that are present in the municipality were constructed by the Department of Public Works and Highways, Waterworks section. In urban area, residents depend solely on their own deep and shallow wells for their water needs. On the other hand, the residents in rural areas depend mostly on open dug wells and some spring water.

Electric Power

Electric power in Piñan is being supplied by Maria Cristina Hydro-Electric Plant located in Iligan City through Zamboanga del Norte Electric Cooperative (ZANECO).

Most of the barangays in the municipality has been connected with electricity through ZANECO. There are at least 1,812 households/consumers that are using electricity as their source of power or lighting. The rest of the households including those in the barangay who does not have electric power supply used kerosene.

Communication

The municipality of Piñan is directly linked with the Provincial Capitol in Dipolog City and other municipalities and cities under the Provincial Law Enforcement Communication System (PLECS). The Local Government Unit had acquired one base and radio hand held. These radios were distributed to the different offices in the LGU and to some members of the Philippines National Police to readily facilitate internal and external communication. With the trend on high technology, most of the members of Sangguniang Bayan and head of offices had been issued with mobile phones to also facilitate internal and external communication.

Communication system for the general public in terms of telegraph can be availed through the TELECOM Office (BUTEL), which is located within the municipal hall vicinity. The BUTEL Office is manned by only one person, which is the operator and at the same time a telegraph carrier.

The Local communication system in the municipality has still much to be desired, like the installation of public telephone and other communication facilities. The PLDT Smart has presently installed their transmission antenna for the public telephone services. SMART and GLOBE Telecommunications had also constructed their respective cell sites.
